The Facebook “25 Things” Meme has been completed by a trillion point five people. Also weird is that I’ve read a TIME.com post, NYTimes.com post, and a Slate.com article about it. Two articles mocked the meme: TIME.com’s blogger noted the immense time waste, the NYTimes.com was about shaping the perceptions others’ have of the 25 Things completer. Slate.com referred to the way the meme spread like a disease.
Anyways, I’m a sucker and read shit I shouldn’t read (like random people’s blogs) like they’re crack. I also like how it incites me to be self-reflective. I love reflecting about myself. Everybody needs to do it. Champion self-awareness! Anyways, I’m not going to complete the entire 25, but here are some rather insightful things about myself that I have recently realized:
- I have a very Western conception of time. I love schedules and scheduling. I live by plans. I’m most productive when I’ve created a to-do list and schedule. I am early to every class I attend. I am early to appointments. I hate being late. I hate when others are late on me. I take it as disrespct of my time (and I hate being late when meeting others because I think it shows disrespect to them). Weird that I’m Filipino and have a very non-Filipino notion of time.
- Joy asked what our most feminine trait is. I said that mine is the tendency to label people as close/very close friends very easily. I apply this label too much; it makes me sad when I realize I’m wrong, which is rather frequently.
- The creation of my Google Reader marked my decline. I waste so much time on that thing. I’m getting better and slowly coming to terms with the inability to read it all (he gives me a few hundred new items daily). But super death. I also looove my Google Reader <3. (He also gave me the three articles I noted above!)
